ESU 9 Autism Team

ESU 9 is excited to offer the assistance of the ESU 9 Autism Team to area schools.  The ESU 9 Autism Team consists of a multidisciplinary team of professionals including speech language pathologists, early childhood educators, school psychologists, and special education coordinators/supervisors.  Many team members on the ESU 9 Autism Team have received advanced training in the area of educating students who are diagnosed with autism and are trained in the assessment of students who demonstrate characteristics similar to children who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This is a service offered by ESU 9 that is separate from the Central Region Autism Spectrum Disorder Team.  The purpose and goal of the ESU 9 Autism Team is to offer direct and consultative services to schools in order to provide educational strategies to classroom and special education teachers who serve students who are verified as having Autism, or who may demonstrate characteristics associated with ASD.  The ESU 9 Autism Team is available to assess students to gather information regarding the student’s current level of functioning and also for verification purposes.
